Now he is on a mission to make England the most feared forward pack in the world.
The scrum coach is just 32 and has never played top class rugby, yet is charged with improving front row veterans like Jamie George, Dan Cole, Joe Marler and Mako Vunipola who have hundreds of caps between them.
Harrison's playing career as a prop peaked at Plymouth in the Championship and Auch, Antoine Dupont's old club, in the second tier in France miles from World Cup finals and British & Irish Lions tours.
But he was destined to be a coach once he started to conquer dyslexia as an eight-year-old by reading Bath rugby matchday programmes.
