Over Howe's shoulder, a logo for Fun88 as he faced a grilling on how Newcastle United came to spend £52million of a limited transfer budget on a "gambling addict" facing a one-year ban from football.
Howe took a softly, softly approach to Tonali (left), showing support for a "human being with weaknesses" and urging the Toon Army to roar their support today against Crystal Palace.
An alternative take is that Tonali, 23, signed a £50m contract on top of that fee in June, knowing that at some point he was in deep trouble either personally or professionally for his actions while an AC Milan player.
