ISRAEL TARGETS REFUGEE CAMPS

ISRAEL is blitzing refugee camps in Gaza in its hunt for Hamas killers, with one assault described as "a night of hell".

It comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to intensify his nation's campaign against the militant group.

And the UN Human Rights Office yesterday revealed more than 100 Palestinians have been killed since Christmas Eve.

The Palestinian death toll now stands at more than 21,000 since Hamas triggered the conflict with its October 7 atrocities - in which 1,200 Israelis died, mostly civilians.

Locals spoke yesterday of heavy bombing in the built-up Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, in the southern city of Khan Younis and in the southern town of Rafah.

Describing the overnight blitz, Rami Abu Mosab said from the Bureij camp: "It was a night of hell.
