VOTERS sobbed at local election polling stations after people were turned away for failing to have the right type of photo identification.
The Government's new rules, aimed to prevent supposed voter fraud, caused chaos yesterday as many people had no ID or an incorrect type.
Even by 11am, Lib Dem MP Layla Moran heard of people being rejected at polling stations in her constituency.
She said: "Across the country I'm worried this will be significant numbers and far more than the exactly zero people found guilty of [voter] fraud last year."
A Labour source said a woman in her 60s told them she wanted to vote but was unable to as she had no ID.
