Stab spree ended by hero taser officer
LOCALS last night told of their horror after yesterday's deadly rampage by a sword-wielding maniac that shattered the early morning suburban calm.
A 14-year-old boy was killed on his way to school and four others, including two police officers, were injured in the terrifying attack and taken to hospital with stab wounds.
Dramatic video emerged of a hero policewoman ending the mayhem by tasering the alleged killer a second time before several colleagues piled on top of him.
Other footage also showed him dressed in a yellow hooded jumper brandishing the three-foot-long weapon and being chased through gardens by officers, including one who shouted: "Lock your doors."
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, claimed the sword thug had crashed a grey transit van into a house before his rampage.
As tributes were paid to the innocent schoolboy victim, he said: "I then heard a load of screaming and it turned out a fella who had gone to see if the bloke was OK got stabbed in the neck by the driver.
"The driver then got back in his car and reversed out the side of the house to drive up the back road where it all started kicking off." Another local James Fernando, 39, told how he stood guard by the schoolboy's body after his death.
He said: "I can't stop thinking about that young boy. I can't stop envisaging his face. A child's life has been lost. I was eating my breakfast when I saw the man get out of a crashed grey transit van.
"He then approached a female resident with his telephone in his hand and asked her to tell someone on the phone his location.
