NEWCASTLE OWNERS IN VOW TO CREATE A £3BN SUPERCLUB LIKE BARCA OR REAL

NEWCASTLE'S have pledged to spend to become a £3billion superclub "like Barcelona or Real Madrid." The ambitious Tyneside revolution is revealed in a new behind-the-scenes documentary released tomorrow on Prime Video.

Newcastle are 80 percent owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) with 10 percent in the hands of Amanda Staveley and the Reuben family.

Their impact over the last 18 months, following a controversial £305million takeover has rattled the Premier League elite.

Co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi (above with wife Staveley and boss Eddie Howe) said: "We want to be a Real Madrid, a Barcelona, to get ourselves to that point we need to spend money."

Prime Video had boardroom and dressing room access to film Staveley negotiating "hardball" the transfer of Anthony Gordon, giving players' pep talks after wins and telling Howe's squad they were "on fire". And she reveals she was left "p****d off" by top-flight rivals changing sponsorship rules.
