Ror emotions as tears flowed, but King Rahm was the rock of Europe

Luke Donald wept, Tommy Fleetwood wept, Zach Johnson dissolved into a puddle.

Jon Rahm (left) did not. He had spent much of the build-up crying his eyes out over videos made by his family and by Ryder Cup greats.

He's an emotional guy. No doubt, tears would follow.

But in the aftermath of his titanic, tied tussle with American rival Scottie Scheffler - and in the immediate wake of this stunning European triumph Rahm smiled, laughed, celebrated and simply took it all in.

The spirit of Seve lives in this giant of the European game.

He did not win his match against the sport's highest-ranked player but the moment he so dramatically secured half a point, a half-point that, at one stage, looked so crucial, summed up this inspirational character.

He had been sent out first to make a bold statement but, after going two-up early on, Rahm came up against a world No.1 who suddenly remembered how to play like a world No.1.
