Squall the Midwife...

STARS of Call the Midwife had to brave the gales of Storm Agnes to film a summery seaside day out.

In scenes to be shown in the BBC series on Sunday, the residents of Nonnatus House and their friends pack picnics and head to the beach for fun in 1969.

But the actors had to put on brave faces as winds of up to 57mph whipped sand at them. One even needed medical help.

Cliff Parisi, who plays shop owner Fred Buckle, said: "The wind was unbelievable.

"I got hypothermia in the end. They had to take me off the set.
