STARS UNITE TO BACK OUR FIGHT

AS the Tories snub calls to give all primary pupils free school meals, a host of stars have united in a bid to end the scandal of children going hungry in 21st-century Britain.

Olivia Colman, Kate Winslet, Ed Sheeran, Brian Cox and Nadiya Hussain are among the celebs today demanding No 10 extend the scheme to every child in England.

They have thrown their weight behind the Free School Meals for All campaign, which is supported by the Mirror.

Mir More than four million children were in homes without proper access to food last year, where families reported skipping meals, eating less, or going hungry all day.

But the Tories are resisting calls to widen the scheme. Free meals are currently provided for pupils in reception class, Year 1 and Year 2, about age seven. From then till the end of primary, around 11 years of age, only families on certain benefits qualify for the help.
