STOP KILLING THE INNOCENT

ISRAEL was accused of ignoring a UN ruling and behaving as though it "has licence to do as it wishes" yesterday as the death toll in Gaza continued to grow.

As many as 1,100 Palestinians have been killed since the UN's top court said Israel must do all that it can to avoid civilian deaths in the Strip.

It brings the number killed in Gaza to more than 27,000, with 66,000 wounded and 2 million displaced from their homes.

South Africa, which brought the case in The Hague, accused Israel of ignoring the judges. Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said they will "look at proposing other measures to stop forces killing more civilians in Gaza.

She said: "I believe the rulings of the court have been ignored.
