BRAZILIAN striker Evanilson netted his first Premier League goal as Bournemouth blew away Southampton with three goals in the opening 39 minutes.
And only a Taylor HarwoodBellis header in an improved second-half display lifted the Saints back off the bottom of the table - no comfort for manager Russell Martin.
Last season's Championship play-off winners are still without a win in their first six games back in the top flight - and 19 in all dating back to March 2023.
Martin, who signed a new three-year deal in July, is not responsible for most of that run.
But his decision to start this south-coast derby without a recognised striker and with Adam Lallana and several forwards on the bench - backfired badly during a shambolic opening period. And they visit Arsenal on Saturday in their last game before the international break.
