HOLLYWOOD actor Ryan Reynolds woke up yesterday smelling of "champagne, beer and grass" after a night to remember in Wrexham.
The Deadpool star had watched his team win promotion to the Football League for the first time in 15 years.
Ryan, 46, who co-owns Wrexham AFC with movie star friend Rob McElhenney, tweeted: "I'm still somewhere between giggling and sobbing.
"This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, Wrexham AFC."
The Red Dragons beat Boreham Wood 3-1 at home in north-east Wales to clinch the National League title on Saturday, sparking joy among fans.
Among them was Caleb Webb, nine, who has been seriously ill with Crohn's disease that inflames the bowels.
Before kick-off Ryan spoke to him and other kids in the quiet zone, a new section for fans with health issues.
Caleb's mum Stacey, 35, who also has Crohn's, said: "Nine times out of 10 he will come over and say hello. Most of the kids don't understand he is a famous actor, they see him as a friend.
"The first time he came over to Caleb he said, 'Hello, little man' and bent down and chatted to him.
"He has got a heart of gold and really cares for the kids. Caleb thinks him and Ryan are best mates. He was the mascot in March. The club treated him like royalty.
The victory sparked wild celebrations across the city.
After the final whistle co-owner Rob, 45, star of sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, said: "We can hear how it feels to the town.
"How it feels for the town is most important to us - a moment of catharsis for them and celebration.
