Will 'savings' go to help needy?

FIRST of all they cut the winter fuel payments in a bid to save money. Now they are picking on the sick and disabled. What will the government do with all the billions they say they will save?

Will 'savings' go to help needy?

Will they use it to help those in trouble with paying bills or for food? Will they help me pay our council tax or electric and gas bill? Will they use it to help our homeless people?

No. We will pay for an illegal person to sleep in a hotel but won't pay for a homeless person to stay in one. Why? We also send billions in aid to other countries.

Stuart Taylor, Cawston, Rugby

The government warned there were tough decisions to be made and price increases. I don't doubt these were hard for them to do but at the same time they must ensure the rises are kept to a minimum.

Councils have been wasting money for years and taxpayers are not getting the services they deserve. Instead of just handing over money to councils, the government needs to ensure the money is used to improve services and facilities.
