Hughes confident he's ready for 100m showdown in Paris and says: I've got the burning desire to beat Lyles and Co

ZHARNEL HUGHES has declared himself fighting fit and warned Olympic rivals: "I'll be part of the medal conversation."

Britain's fastest man (circle) returns to action over 100m at Saturday's London Diamond League meeting having torn his right hamstring in June.

After withdrawing from last month's European Championships, the 29-year-old insists he needs only one race before the Paris showdown to prove he is a contender.

"I'm relaxed, I'm good," Hughes said. The World Championship bronze medallist began treatment on the grade one tear within an hour of pulling up at the end of a race in Jamaica.

Within 11 days he was back running, he said, adding: "By the end of the second week we were running pretty fast.
