HARD-UP Scots are cutting back on food to pay for soaring energy bills.

Citizens Advice Scotland has revealed how one pensioner suffering with osteoarthritis is eating fewer meals and cooks with a sandwich toaster rather than an oven to save electricity.

The woman has also stopped using her gas central heating, resulting in a colder home, which is having an impact on her health.

In another case, a woman thought about ending her life after struggling to pay energy bill arrears.

And a disabled man whose debt of £2000 to his energy supplier after a reduction in his Universal Credit meant he can't cover everyday expenses.
