Skipper says Scotland will be fuming for 24 hours then it's back to work for Switzerland crunch

Hands up.. we were terrible

THE emotions are still raw for Andy Robertson. Anger. Anguish. Crushing disappointment. The lot.

The Scotland skipper knows this one can’t just be shrugged off or swept under the carpet.

This wasn’t the friendly loss to the Auld Enemy.

It wasn’t a bounce-game beating by France or a weird thumping by Holland after an hour of nice stuff.

This was the real thing. Scotland’s big moment on the main stage and he knows it didn’t go all right on the night.

The opposite, in fact.

Scotland fluffed their lines, bumped into the set and ripped the back of their breeks in front of the watching world.

And Robertson refused to make excuses. Losing to Germany on the opening night would not have been a disgrace.

But there are ways to lose – and this wasn’t it.

Scotland started badly and got worse. The fact the second half wasn’t even more of a blood bath following Ryan Porteous red card was something of a relief.

Robbo admitted it’s going to take some time to get this out of the system – but they can’t take too long with Switzerland up next and a heck of a lot of making up to do.

The skipper said: “We’ll take tomorrow to be angry and disappointed, Then we will try to be positive and go again.

“Maybe it’s a reminder about how tough this tournament is. Obviously last time it was different but you are playing against world-class teams.

“They showed that, their big players showed up all over the park. “They made it difficult for us and had an answer for pretty much everything we had.

“Sometimes that happens but I don’t think we played to our maximum – which you have to do against pot one teams.
