DEREK MCINNES insists he can take Kilmarnock to a Hampden final.

And the Rugby Park boss says recent success stories offer motivation and proof his team can take a further step by going all the way in the Scottish Cup.

The Rugby Park outfit begin their bid tomorrow at home to Premiership rivals Dundee.

McInnes knows it will be tough against the Dark Blues and his old sidekick Tony Docherty, but has belief in his squad to have a serious cup run.

Killie fell just short last term when they reached the semifinals of the Viaplay Cup and the Scottish Cup last eight.

Hopes boomed this term after Celtic were defeated in the last 16 of the Viaplay only to bow out at the next stage to Hearts.

Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, Inverness, Ross County, St Mirren, St Johnstone and Killie themselves have all won major finals at Hampden in the past dozen years.
