THE teenage son of tragic M9 crash victim Lamara Bell has spoken out for the first time after a nine-year wait for answers from a probe.
Devastated Kieran, 14, who was only five when his mum was killed, told how he misses her every day and still listens to her favourite music to feel close to her.
And he said the outcome of the fatal accident inquiry makes no difference to his feelings of loss.
Lamara, 25, and her partner John Yuill, 28, died after their car left the M9 near Stirling on July 5, 2015, as they drove back from a camping trip.
Their crashed car lay undiscovered for two days due to an "organisational failure" in police call handling procedures, a fatal accident inquiry has found.
The inquiry, published yesterday, also found a police officer who failed to log a call reporting the incident was inadequately trained.
Kieran said: "No matter what the outcome of the FAI is, my mum is still not here."
Kieran, speaking to the Daily Record with permission from his grandad James McMillan, who now looks after him, told how he thinks about his mum each day.
He said: "She's missed out on me growing up and hasn't been here for important milestones like yesterday, where I started at a new high school. I miss my mum and wish she was still here. I listen to her favourite music every day and it helps to keep her close to me.” Grandad James said everyone’s lives changed after Lamara and John died and he feels disappointed the inquiry has taken so long.
He said: “Kieran lives with me. I’ve always been a big part of his life, so he came to stay with me in March. He is a great kid who has just started a new school and has had a lot to cope with for someone so young.
