BUCKIE THISTLE star Hamish Munro witnessed the ultimate Scottish Cup shock at Celtic Park.

He was among the Inverness Caley Thistle fans who travelled down to see Steve Paterson's players famously beat John Barnes' side in 2000.

The youngster had to skip school to make the midweek trip from Fochabers as they watched local hero Pele lead the Highlanders to one of the biggest cup stunners.

Now the 37-year-old will return to Parkhead as a player next week looking for an even bigger with Highland League Buckie.

Munro, nicknamed Squish, said: "I used to follow Caley Thistle. Steve Paterson is near where I am from, so he had quite a bit of a following in the local area.

"He was from Garmouth and I am from Fochabers. As a young boy, I used to go to Huntly games to watch his team and then when Steve went to Inverness I started to follow them.

"We went down to the original Inverness game on a hus. We were outside Celtic Park and it came on the radio that the game had been called off because of a loose speaker.
