Inquiry call after cops' 'betrayal'

THE mum of Emma Caldwell has called for a judicial public inquiry to investigate the "betrayal" of police investigating her daughter's murder.

Margaret Caldwell, who refused to give up the fight for justice, is expected to meet the First Minister, Lord Advocate and Police Scotland's Chief Constable to tell how officers "sabotaged" the case against killer lain Packer.

The lawyer for the Caldwell family has called for the potential prosecution of senior officers. Aamer Anwar voiced Margaret's call for an independent inquiry into the mole-hunt launched by Police Scotland, which diverted energy from the murder investigation.
