LITTLE SHOPS OF HORRORS

A SCOTS shop boss has warned a worker will lose their life in a soaring retail crime crisis.

Jennifer Paton, manager of Eddy's Food Station in Greenock, says her staff have been left "terrified" after facing customers with machetes and metal bars.

The 36-year-old called on the First Minister to pledge more police support to protect staff.

She said: "Somebody will die before they take notice. The blood will be on Humza Yousaf's hands.

"We've taken too much money out of policing now that we just don't have enough support." Figures from the British Retail Consortium have revealed violence and abuse against shop workers rose to 1300 incidents a day last year in the UK - up 50 percent on 2022. The BRC says action is "woefully inadequate".
