A SCABIES outbreak is spreading across the UK, experts have warned.

The highly contagious condition sees mites burrow beneath the skin and lay eggs.

It is spread by skin-to-skin contact and makes sufferers itchy.

The outbreak is considered a major public health threat after a number of cases at a London university.

Fashion students at St Martin's College came down with the condition after they came into contact with a contaminated piece of fabric.
