CAMPAIGNERS fear the Tories will try to dodge paying millions of women over the pensions scandal, despite yesterday's compensation victory.
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman ruled the Government must cough up after those born in the 50s missed out on retirement funds because they were not properly informed about rises in the state pension age.
But No10 refused to act, sparking fears it will drag its heels over payouts as in the Horizons and infected blood scandals.
Campaigners Women Against State Pension Inequality said more than 270,000 have already died and thousands were plunged into poverty because of failings at the Department for Work and Pensions. And it warned the PHSO's suggested payouts of £1000 to £2950 is not enough for those who missed out on an average of more than £50,000.
WASPI wants at least £10,000 for each woman affected to recognise the "injustice and loss of opportunities" victims suffered. The DWP said it would "respond in due course".
