Zoo takes tropical possums under wing

SIX sugar glider possums have been rescued after being “cruelly” abandoned outside a branch of Lidl.

Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder received an urgent call from police and the Scottish SPCA this month after the tropical marsupials were found in a box outside the Glasgow supermarket.

The rehabilitation team described it as a “shocking case of animal abandonment”.

They were handed in to Clydebank police station.
