THIS ISN'T JUSTICE FOR MUM

THE FAMILY of a woman who was killed by a speeding cop are furious after he was given unpaid work as his sentence.

PC Jamie Hamill, 32, had been driving a marked Ford Transit at 39mph in a 30mph zone when he collided with Margaret McCarron, 58, in Motherwell in September 2021.

Hamill, of Strathaven, Lanarkshire, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted causing death by careless driving. Sheriff Louise Gallacher ordered him to carry out 225 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for 21 months.

But the McCarron family said they have been left with a "gaping hole" in their lives and have been put through "hell" by the justice system.
