THE SNP has said that more than £50billion “wasted” by the UK Government could fund millions of police officers or nurses or build over 100 hospitals.
Party analysis suggested the UK Government has lost £55.6billion to fraud, the curbed HS2 rail project and unusable personal protective equipment (PPE) during the Covi d pandemic.
The nationalists said this could have paid for nearly two million nurses or police officers, or built 110 hospitals in Scotland.
SNP health spokesperson in London Amy Callaghan said the UK Government had shown a “complete disregard for people’s hard earned money and our vital public services”.
The SNP claimed since 2020 the UK Government has lost £21billion to fraud and wasted £9.9billion on unusable PPE.
It said this money alone could have been used to build 60 midsize hospitals.
