POLAR bears are at risk of starvation in longer ice-free Arctic seasons brought about by climate change.
This forces the bears specialised in using the ice to hunt seals to spend longer on land in those regions.
Bears monitored during a study tried different tactics to maintain energy on land, such as scavenging, foraging and resting, but almost all lost weight rapidly.
