Martindale does the maths and says Livi top Prem on points per pounds
FRASER WILSON
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE (AGAIN)

DAVID MARTINDALE is a big believer in statistics and numbers.

Particularly the ones that can't be argued - such as the annual budget for tomorrow's opponents Celtic's dwarfing his own at Livingston.

And a rarely spotted one, which shows his Lions side have finished top of the Premiership pile in every one of the last four seasons when it comes to pounds spent per point won.

To be fair, the club with the lowest budget in the top-flight would need to finish bottom for that not to be the case.

Martindale puts it bluntly when he claims Celtic's top earner pockets the same every week as his entire Livi dressing room put together.

He reckons the Hoops' spending power is a "conservative" 30-35 times the £1.3million he has available.

And when a supercomputer does it's magic to convert that into how much is spent for every point won it comes away with some eyeraising figures.

It's a stat Martindale's paid close attention to since learning that's how Brighton went about recruiting Graham Potter four years ago after he worked wonders at Swansea.

Not that he'd expect Aberdeen to come calling for his services based on the same model.
