LEWIS HAMILTON is on top of the timesheets -sparing the blushes of the man who will replace him at Mercedes.
One Teenager Kimi Antonelli, in his maiden Formula practice session driving George Russell's car, lost control of the Mercedes on his second flying lap and buried it in a tyre wall.
It meant that Russell could only finish sixth fastest after completing just 19 laps.
An embarrassed Antonelli said: "I'm really sorry to the team and George for making them work afterwards.
"It was a mistake on my side, pushing a bit too much for the conditions... but lesson learned for next time." The crash won't deter Mercedes, who have already decided that Antonelli, 18, will be the one to replace Ferraribound Hamilton.
