CAMERON BURGESS insists there is no need to panic at Portman Road in spite of Ipswich’s 10-game winless streak.
The Australia centre-back thought he had preserved the Tractor Boys’ first victory with a stunning late block to deny Jordan Ayew an equaliser after they had been reduced to 10 men when Kalvin Phillips was sent off.
But he could do nothing to prevent heartbreak in Suffolk when Ayew danced through the Ipswich rearguard with a little help from Jamie Vardy to rip away a point in the 94th minute.
Burgess said: “It was harsh, but that’s football, I suppose. The positive is that we put in a good performance, but yes, it does feel like a loss.
“It’s 10 games without a win but not for the want of doing the right things for the most part. We’ve been in most games. It’s a difficult league. We knew that coming in.”
So is there an urgency to get that first win?
“Urgency is probably the wrong word. We’re desperate for the first win but not through the wrong reasons,” said Burgess.
