Short circuit in a machine in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College triggered the fire that claimed the lives of 10 infants in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh, a senior district official said on Saturday, adding that the district administration has submitted its report on the incident to the state government.
Another report being prepared by Jhansi divisional commissioner Vimal Kumar Dubey and deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Kalanidhi Naithani, will soon be presented before UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
"A spark due to short-circuit in a machine in the ICU is the cause of the fire. We are giving final touches to our report and the same will be submitted to the government soon. We are only waiting for medical college's final list carrying names of those who have died or have been injured in the incident." Dubey said.
