HEALTH Minister Stephen Donnelly will announce full funding today for a cycle of IVF treatment for eligible couples, the Irish Mirror understands.
Ministers will meet for a final Cabinet meeting in Government Buildings this morning ahead of the summer break.
There is an extensive agenda to be discussed, with several ministers deciding to hold announcements back until later in the summer.
Funding worth €10million was allocated to roll out publicly funded IVF during last September’s Budget.
Mr Donnelly is expected to say the planned rollout will begin this September. The HSE is finalising arrangements with private clinics.
It is understood one IVF cycle will be publicly funded for those who have had zero or one privately funded cycle.
Up to three cycles of Intrauterine Insemination Treatment, a type of artificial insemination, will be covered for those deemed clinically suitable.
