Aren't grandkids just grand?
The Citizen
|March 17, 2025
Hush, hush. Please don't wake my babies. Don't wake my little boy, age 33, and his wife. They need their sleep because yesterday they came home from hospital with their new baby.
Yes, I am finally a grandmother, finally Jenma, or Glammy, or Baba Yaga as my manchild insists on calling me.
No matter, because Baby Ridyard is here and all is well.
I probably don't need to state the self-evident: that he is undoubtedly the most beautiful little creature to ever grace the earth; I don't need to detail his silky head like a perfect peach, his puckered kiss lips, his pink shell ears, or his sweet shrimp fingers, each nail a flake of coral.
Any grandparent would tell you this and know, in their heart of hearts, that for them it's completely true.

Race still rules 30 years into new era
I wish to reflect on where we find ourselves today after 30-odd years of democracy, especially bearing in mind Nelson Mandela's concept of a rainbow nation and FW de Klerk's vision of no more discrimination on the basis of race.
