In 2019, DMK front won 38 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry.
Overall, the electorate in the Dravidian heartland rejected the BJP-led NDA for the third straight time since 2014, proving right Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's famous statement that "You (BJP) can never ever in your lifetime rule over the people in Tamil Nadu."
