Blogger who's just wild about Plymouth

Sumalka Mendis, who goes by @lankangirlinplymouth on Instagram, describes the city's 'amazing' community spirit and 'hidden history, in reviews which glow with positivity.

Sumalka has lived in the city for nearly a decade after moving to Plymouth from Sri Lanka, to study at University of Plymouth.

Sharing scenic pictures of walks in and around Plymouth, as well as food reviews while out and about, Sumalka's love for Plymouth really shines through on her posts.

She now works as a lecturer and "loves how small the city is", along with the "nice balance" of slowness and fast pace.

Sumalka said: "I think Plymouth is one of the most underrated cities in England. I think the best thing about Plymouth is the people. We have an amazing community here and the community spirit is something I have always cherished in this city.

Not to forget the stunning beaches, the moors and the years of history that most people are not aware of.
