City schools announce vape alarms in toilets

TWO Plymouth secondary schools are set to install vape alarms in their toilets, as part of changes brought in across schools run by the Ted Wragg Trust.

Parents of children who attend schools in the trust have also been informed that pupils will receive free breakfasts.

The trust has three schools in Plymouth: All Saints Church of England Academy, Marine Academy Plymouth, and Marine Academy Primary. The changes come after the trust carried out a series of recent listening sessions.

Parents have been told all pupils at Ted Wragg Trust schools will be given free breakfasts, uniforms will also be available for every child to borrow on arrival at school, if needed, students will receive free sanitary products, and there will also be investment in vape alarms.

It comes after a campaign was launched earlier this year, when frustrated parents demanded urgent changes to what they claim is ‘failing’ and ‘unrealistic’ policies which were said to be severely impacting upon pupils’ well-being and happiness.

Some parents also revealed they had to pay £22 for their children to avoid the toilet rules – to which the changes will include “better clarification regarding when pupils are allowed to go to the toilet”.
