COUNCILLORS SAY THE MATTER IS 'A PRIORITY'

Derriford's parking issues 'must be fixed'

PARKING problems at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital are in the spotlight as city councillors discussed the latest stage in a £150 million plan to transform the site.

A project called Future Hospitals will lead to a new-look Derriford by the end of 2026, with work startIng on the first phase this summer. But councillors want the hospital’s long-standing parking problems to be fixed as a priority.

Cllr David Salmon (Con, Plymstock Dunstone) said: “I always arrive at the hospital in a distressed state, because last time I was there it took me 40 minutes to park. It has been like this for years, and with additional numbers coming in it can only get worse.”
