DINERS have been raving about a revamped bistro at a pub saved by locals. The Cornwood Inn was on the verge of being sold to a developer until a last-ditch bid from residents who came together to save it.
A band of community volunteers formed the Cornwood Inn Action Group to buy the village pub, which sits on the southern edge of Dartmoor, from Enterprise Inns in September 2019. They secured the longer-term future of the pub by becoming a community benefit society and then selling community shares.
The pub has recently launched a bistro menu, and its food has been lauded on social media, with glowing reviews on Tripadvisor and a five-star rating. Recent diners have praised its “superb” food and “lovely atmosphere”.
Reviewer Vannish1958 said: “We had a very pleasant surprise on our most recent trip last week to find that the original Bar has now been transformed into a lovely Bistro, whose menu offers a complementary “fine dining” experience to the ever popular (and extensive) food menu of pub favourites served in the main lounge-bar.
