FORMER promotion-winning Plymouth Argyle manager Neil Warnock is optimistic the Pilgrims can avoid relegation from the Championship this season.
Warnock believes Argyle are good enough to stay up, particularly if they can get 20-goal top scorer Morgan Whittaker ‘firing’ over the run-in. The 75-year-old also admitted in an interview with David White of BBC Radio Cornwall he would have been up for taking charge of the team for their final six fixtures had he been asked following the club’s sacking of Ian Foster.
However, director of football Neil Dewsnip and long-serving first team coach Kevin Nancekivell have been handed the responsibility to try to lead the Pilgrims to safety, starting with the Sky-televised away game against bottom-of-the-table Rotherham United on tomorrow night.
