ORGANISED crime gangs growing cannabis in Devon and Cornwall have been smashed by police who have seized 850 plants with a street value of almost half a million pounds.
Five men have been arrested after warrants were executed in Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay and Camborne.
Devon and Cornwall Police have provided more details about the operation and the wider crackdown on drug crime, Operation Millie. It has been running alongside a regional focus on drugs and modern-day slavery, Operation Scorpion.
Those arrested include a 51-year-old man from Camborne, three men from South Wales, and a 37-year-old man from Plymouth. They have been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
The biggest haul involved a raid at a former nightclub in Torquay that had been turned into a huge cannabis factory. Police uncovered a massive grow at the building which housed the club, which has been closed for a decade.
