Veteran rider from Kerala, CD Jinan of Petronas TVS Racing, won both the lead in the third round of the MRF MoGrip fmsci National Supercross Championship 2022 at the CODISSIA ground in Coimbatore which attracted over 15,000 crowd on the third Sunday of June.
SX1, the eight-lap race had nine riders on the grid and it was CD Jinan who got off to a good start and lead right from start. But in the second lap Jinan had to give way to Rugved, on a left-hander and Jinan struggled hard in next couple of laps to go past the leader Rugved, but was not successful.
Ikshan Shanbag was running third but had fallen back by the end of the second lap and there on, he closed up and all the top three riders were close enough. But things were not looking good for Rugved, who had already built up a good lead, as he overshot a left-hander, which gave the race lead to Jinan once again. This was not the end of the story for Rugved. He once again overshot on the same corner and Ikshan gained ground to move to second. With the third similar mistake of Rugved, Prajwal who had scaled up from sixth to fifth for some time got an opportunity to go past Rugved and he secured the third position. Rugved had to settle for fourth and young Sarthak Chavan finished fifth.
Moto 2 provided a lot of excitement to the crowd by the two Petronas TVS Racing riders, the winner CD Jinan and the second runner-up Rugved Barguje. Jinan was well challenged by Barguje in the very first lap as he opted for the Joker lane to take the lead successfully. In turn, Jinan did the same in Lap 2 to regain the top slot. There was no end to the fight as both were neck-and-neck till Barguje shot off the track and fell on a left-hander after landing alongside Jinan. Thus, Prajwal held on to the second position while Barguje, after the fall, scaled up to third. Ikshan finished fourth and Sarthak Chavan managed to finish fifth.
