OBITUARY - Jim Hendry 1939-2023

Tributes have been paid to Jim Hendry, former Chief Executive and General Secretary of the British Cycling Federation (later British Cycling), who died on Sunday, 20 August, at the age of 83.

Hendry, a Scot, spent his entire career as an administrator, first in local government with Perth Town Council and the Glenrothes Development Corporation before moving south in 1965 to join the Corby (Northants) Development Corporation. His close involvement with cycling – he was a semi-professional rider from 1965 to 1969 and then a coach, commissaire and national team manager – led to his appointment as the BCF Director of Racing in 1979.
