ISLAND LUXE
Golf Asia|December 2024
Opened at the start of the pandemic, Banyan Tree Krabi finds its place in the sun amidst the group's expanding dynasty.
ISLAND LUXE

Krabi's status as one of the relatively underrated island destinations in Thailand is probably the reason why people should visit. The heady party scene at Koh Phangan nearby may have had its heyday, but what is undisputed is its ability to be a place where people can enjoy the idyllic tranquility of the tropics, with great restaurants and bars not too far away.

Having a nice place to stay when in Krabi adds to the experience, if not the chance to get away from it all. Opened in 2020, Banyan Tree Krabi is a fine option to recline, relax, and rejuvenate.

THE SETTING

The resort is a 45-minute drive from Krabi Airport, and is nestled in a hillside (Krabi is a mountainous island) with stupendous views of karst limestone towers protruding from the sapphire Andaman sea. From the lobby, the uninhabited islets of Koh Hong and the national marine park is in full frontal view. The marble foyer houses a stunning water feature surrounding a staircase with the Naga - a mythological serpent that accents many of the hotel's features.

THE ROOMS

There is no shortage of room types here. The 72 units run the gamut of a “modest” 99 sq m Ocean Pool Suite to the 587m Presidential Beachfront Pool Villa. Needless to say, everything in between hits all the right marks of luxury and appointments for which Banyan Tree has come to be known.
