Igniting a spark among students
FRAVASHI UNITY LEAGUE

The most enthralling co-scholastic event for the IGCSE and A-Level students and teachers at Fravashi International Academy (FIA), Nashik is the Fravashi Sporting Leagues. Named after the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Fravashi Unity League aims to unite the student body with the faculty. Knowing that stalwarts like Kapil Dev, Kalicharanji, and Late Milkha Singh, have blessed Fravashi International Academy with their presence in the past, one may think of the Leagues as merely a sports event, but it is so much more. This League took its first baby steps way back in 2013 as a student-led initiative, and this tradition of handling it independently has been going on ever since. The six teams - Barracudas, Black Hawks, Energetics, Gladiators, Red Devils, and Straight Edge - are all managed by their respective Captains, an Organising Committee, and a Disciplinary Committee. The importance of the leagues is such that a separate Press Team is put together specifically for it; with reporters, editors, editors in chiefs, and a press head, all working together to cover this significant event of FIA.

An auction resembling that of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is conducted five months before the event in December to select players. The wait until the week-long event could be described as nothing but agony! The smart ones use their time wisely and work on the strengths and weaknesses of the team during regular sports classes. Whether it is complaining about which team the students are on or speculating possible victors, in the months leading up to the event the leagues are a part of every lunchtime conversation and hallway gossip. There is a constant buzz of energy, an exchange of planning strategies, and a lot of field and paperwork at Fravashi during December.
