ANDRE KRUL TICKS OFF FINAL CONTINENT
Dutch goalkeeper Andre Krul has become only the second-ever footballer to play professionally on six geographic continents after appearing for AJEL de Rufisque in Senegal.
After spells at several different Dutch clubs, the 37-year-old headed to Colombia (South America), Puerto Rico (North America), Japan (Asia) and Australia (part of Asia in football terms but part of Oceania geographically), before the move to Africa last autumn. However, he had to wait before making his debut earlier this year in the Senegalese Cup — a competition that has recently gained a reputation for producing unusual headlines, most notably last season when the final was contested by teams from the third and fifth tiers.
