The news was accompanied by a shocking image capturing the explosions near Pentagon. The news took social media by storm and even put the stock market to a frenzy. What made people believe in the post was it being shared by a Twitter (now X) account masquerading as the official page of Bloomberg. The report was then carried by Russia Today and many other major news outlet leading to millions of people briefly believing that 'large explosions' had taken place near Pentagon.
The report was obviously fake and the image was proven to be AI-generated in no time.
