One of the newest technologies that have come to the forefront is the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). An Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) is a device with software that allows flight crews to conduct several tasks that were previously done with paper and tools. An EFB can do basic flight planning calculations and displays a range of digital materials such as navigational charts, operations manuals and aircraft check lists. The most advanced EFBs are completely certified as part of the aircraftavionics system and are integrated with aircraft systems such as the flight management system (FMS). These sophisticated systems display an aircraft’s position in navigational charts, show real-time weather and carry out a variety of intricate flight-planning duties.
