ON SAFARI IN SOUTH AFRICA

My adventure started with a night in a comfortable hotel in Johannesburg. The next morning. I got up early to join my tour group heading to Olifants West Nature Reserve within the Kruger National Park. As we drove along busy highways, then turned on to quiet bumpy roads, we passed through traditional villages and soaked up views of green fields and mountains that stretched for miles.

MEET THE ANTI-POACHERS

Our safari started in a unique and special way, with a visit to the headquarters of the Black Mambas - an all-female anti-poaching group set up to protect wildlife and promote conservation. Dressed in trademark army fatigues, members Leitah, Cute and Felicia showed us around, and talked about their important work. Every day they patrol vast tracts of land looking for, and removing, metal snares set out by poachers. So far, these passionate and fierce women have removed more than 1,470 snares.
