Following her Celebrity Big Brother triumph, Fern Britton reveals why returning to This Morning feels ‘perfect’, and how she’s healed herself after a painful divorce
Go back to This Morning? Who knows...

On the morning of her woman&home cover shoot, five days after reaching the Celebrity Big Brother final, Fern Britton was at ITV’s This Morning discussing a long-awaited return.

‘When my interview finished and I left the studio, I was approached by a [member of the] production team who said, ”Would you like to do some little films with us?”’ reveals Fern.

‘That conversation is yet to be had but those little four-minute films now and again? Perfect. If I could just do them in Cornwall, that would be even more perfect!’

It was a happy and healing moment for Fern, who presented the hit show for a decade until 2009, when she quit amid rumours of a pay disparity and rows with her co-host Phillip Schofield.

‘So many of the team that I worked with are still there and it was a real trip down memory lane. It was wonderful to be close to people who meant a lot to me,’ says Fern.

‘The morning that I resigned, I’d not even thought of leaving the show, so I left behind a lot of good stuff and a lot of good friends, so [going back] was lovely.’

In recent years, Fern has established herself as a bestselling author, and enjoyed TV and radio jobs such as Channel 5’s Watercolour Challenge and All Star Musicals on ITV. And since finishing fifth on CBB, amid predictions of a big telly comeback, reports have suggested Fern’s future success will be ‘the ultimate revenge’ on former colleague Phil, whose TV career nosedived last year.
