Megan Robson's passion for interior design has brought much-needed colour and character to her new build by the sea

Escaping the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh and relocating to the East Lothian coast was a dream come true for Megan Robson and her husband, Philip. When their two young children came along, Willow, now seven, and Kit, now five, the couple were certain that city life was no longer for them and started the search for a family home on the outskirts. 'We found a development of very spacious new-build homes in a beautiful coastal village and we both felt they were an ideal solution while the children were growing up,' says Megan. Built in 2020, the five-bedroom detached villa was the perfect blank canvas for Megan to hone her interior design skills.

'I had a definite idea of what I wanted from the start, as I had renovated our previous home, and I was bringing a lot of furniture and accessories with me, says Megan. Time was of the essence, so Megan set to work immediately, turning the house into a home. 'We moved in a week before Christmas and had the whole house painted and flooring laid in three days,' she recalls. 'We then hastily put up a tree and popped the children's presents underneath, and spent the rest of the holidays unpacking boxes!"
